Mike joined Dive Fish Snow in December 2004 and has never looked back!
His overseas diving experiences includes liveaboard Dive Trips on the Great Barrier Reef and Coral Sea - Australia, the Maldives (North Male Atoll), Papua New Guinea (West New Britain, Madang and Kavieng), Fiji (Savusavu, Namena Barrier Reef, Taveuni, Mamanuca Islands, Yasawa Islands, Coral Coast, Bega Lagoon and Rakiraki), Port Vila - Vanuatu (Mele Bay, Port Vila Harbour and Havannah Harbour), Niue, the Vava'u and Ha'apai Islands in the Kingdom of Tonga, as well as Rottnest Island (WA Australia).
Mikes most memorable dives thus far are the fantastic Shark Encounter dive at Fiji's Beqa Lagoon and Manta Ray dives at Osprey Reef, Coral Sea (GBR). His greatest ambition is to dive with large schools of pelagic sharks, marlin or sailfish herding and devouring bait balls off the coast of South Africa. The Galapagos and Cocos Islands, for schooling Hammerhead Sharks are also high on Mike's list, along with Liveaboard diving in Raja Ampat and Komodo Island in Indonesia and swimming with Whale Sharks.
Mike has 12 years experience in the Travel Industry, which he gained access to through his Diploma in Travel and Tourism. His experience working in a Retail Travel Industry provided a solid grounding to start his Career in Travel. He completed two part-time dive courses while working as a Travel Consultant and is a qualified Open Water Instructor. Completing his Instructor course provided Mike with great many New Zealand under water experiences while also providing an opportunity to learn more about and share his passion for diving with others!
The trip was absolutely amazing. For starters I got upgraded to The Argo before the trip left, which is a beautiful boat. But the crew were outstanding on the whole trip. In every way they went over and above expectations in terms of service. The diving was fantastic, a slow start but by the end of the week I'd done a dive where I probably saw about 200 hammerheads, a whale shark, a manta, galapagos sharks, every type of ray you can imagine and some dives where we saw dozens of turtles including some that were huge!
I would have no problem in recommending Undersea Hunter and the Cocos Islands trip to anyone thinking of going. I'm in Roatan in Honduras at the moment diving, and then off to Belize next before coming back to NZ in March.

"The trip was great! The reef more beautiful than i could have imagined. I would say flying to lizard island to start the dive is a must as you could really appreciate seeing the reef from the air and this adds and element of a feeling like a true expedition so I would encourage booking people on that south bound route rather than meeting the boat and leaving from Cairns.
I've included a few of the best pics!
We are now back home but still on Fiji time which makes getting back into work a little difficult. Thank you for all your work in booking our trip - all flights went smoothly and had a great time at Paradise. We had a bit of rain and wind for the first few days but that didn’t stop us from having some lovely dives. Exceptional people, food and facilities.
