A few minutes away by boat, but a full world away from the islands of Sipadan and Mabul lies the exhilarating Kapalai Dive Resort. This Resort sits on sturdy stilts on the shallow sandbanks of the Ligitan Reefs. Built as an airy, comfortable, sunny water village with no land in sight, it boasts a mile-long sandbank of powdery white sand. Here you can suntan at leisure while gazing over the miles of brilliant turquoise stretching into the horizon, or watch reef fish swimming underneath your water chalets during your leisure time.
The Sipadan-Kapalai Resort made up of a chain of chalets linked by a couple of miles of wooden walkways - great for those who like to take their morning jog while looking at thousands of fish just a few inches beneath their feet!
Centred around the open restaurant, sundeck, and dive center, the 41 elegant twin-sharing wooden chalets are roomy and well equipped with attached bathrooms and huge private balconies.
All chalets feature:
- Fan cooling
- Sea view, beachfront balcony with chairs
- Private hot water shower and bath
- Towels and toiletries
- Bedside lamps
- Seating area
- 220 volt power points
Dining: The resort offers great food. Meals are served in the terraced, open air restaurant, while a big sundeck allows guests to have an evening with a background of fabulous tropical sunsets.
The diving
Diving around Kapalai is exceedingly easy because of the generally shallow dive sites. The resort offers speedboat trips with three boat dives per day to its neighbouring islands of Sipadan and Mabul.
Diving in Sipadan is limited to two dives per day per diver - the third dive is at Mabul or back in Kapalai.
The twin engine monohull Dive speedboats take a maximum of 10 divers per boat, allowing fast, comfortable trips to neighbouring islands.

Dive guides are provided on all diving day trips as well as refreshments. The dive boat returns to the resort in between dives. Boat journey time is about 15 minutes.
Night dives, and sunset dives to see the mandarinfish right under the jetty, are available free of charge with a dive buddy.
