Maravagi is a charming little village-style resort near Tulagi in the Florida Islands where guests can enjoy the peace and quiet, friendly hospitality and excellent food.
There are four bungalows close to the beach. They feature two bedrooms and a bathroom with toilet and freshwater shower, and can accommodate four people. A larger dormitory style building close by with seven twin rooms, providing beds for fourteen people.
The bungalows have been built about one metre off the ground, with a table and chair, screened louvre windows, ceiling fans and mosquito nets over the double or 2 singles beds. The accommodation is basic, but it is clean and comfortable. A generator provides electric power (240Watts) to the Resort.
The restaurant and bar is been built over the beach, with superb views of the sheltered bay and its deep-water anchorage. The walls are tastefully decorated with woven matting on the inside.
Meals are generous and include soup, fresh fish (caught locally), chicken and beef with salad, vegetables and fruit. Vegetarians can be catered to on request. Guests can also sit on the lounge chairs around the coffee tables and read, play games or chat about the day’s activities whilst unwinding with a chilled beverage. The bar is well stocked and the local Sol Brew flows plentifully.
Activities available from Maravagi Resort include snorkelling, swimming, sea kayaking, waterskiing, wakeboarding and banana boat rides.
We recommend staying 2-3 nights in Honiara to allow time to dive the wrecks in Iron Bottom Sound.
We recommend the Honiara Hotel in Guadacanal.
