The mountain is divided into the Kitanomine Zone and the Furano Zone. Both zones can be accessed on one lift pass and are serviced by 11 lifts..
The Furano Zone has a brand new ultra fast cable car, called the Ropeway,
which can hold up to 100 people and goes from the bottom to the top (2.3km) in 5 minutes.
Other lifts access two beginner areas, one at the base and one accessible from the top of the Ropeway. A high-speed detachable quad also allows skiers to access most of the mountain.
In the Kitanomine zone, you can access the peak via a 3km 6-person gondola. A 1km High-speed detachable quad services a long cruiser for beginners and also some short intermediate runs. This lift is also the night skiing lift in the Kitanomine zone. There are also 2 single chairs which service the downhill racecourses.
The connecting 1-person lift takes you 925m across to the Furano Zone.
Night skiing at Furano
Night skiing is a spectacular experience at Furano, as you cruise down the well-lit groomers enjoying the amazing views of the area coming to life at night.. Both zones are open until 9pm and you can ski straight off the mountain and into one of the bars or restaurants!
Off Piste
An important note is that off-piste tree and backcountry skiing or riding within, or from, the resort is PROHIBITED. This regulation is STRICTLY policed by the local ski patrol and the local community.
Ski hosts at Furano
Visitors to Furano can meet up with an English speaking local volunteer ski host who will show them the ski area and answer any questions they may have.
Grooming
Each night a wide variety of runs up to 4.8km long are groomed to perfection, producing perfect corduroy with the snow remaining soft and dry.
On mountain dining
There are a number of restaurants and cafeterias right on the mountain. At the base of both the Kitanomine Gondola and the Furano Ropeway there are several good restaurants where you can get a wide variety of good, hearty, healthy meals.
At the top of the Furano Ropeway there is also a small European style café restaurant.
There is also food, drinks and beers available at vending machines right across the hill at different points.
At the base of the Kitanomine gondola you can find the Snow Dome Festival site. This is a great area to grab a bite to eat after skiing, have a relaxing drink, hot wine, beer or hot chocolate, and unwind in a small country festival atmosphere.
