Aspen/Snowmass: The Power of Four
Famous for its history, diverse terrain, amazing restaurants and legendary nightlife, Aspen/Snowmass is one of the most well-known resort destinations in the world. Four mountains – Snowmass, Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk – rise up from the Roaring Fork Valley, offering a combined 500 kilometers of pistes which include eight terrain parks, four halfpipes and 336 marked trails via 46 lifts.
Terrain Park
Buttermilk’s Crazy T’rain Park is internationally known for the superpipe featured during the ESPN Winter X Games, but it also has endless jumps and rails where skiers and snowboarders of all ability levels can jib table tops, hips, and spines.
Snowmass features three terrain parks perfect for all levels of riding. Scooper and Makaha Parks are beginner and intermediate parks featuring a minipipe and easier rails to learn the basics. For a step up in challenge, check out the Snowmass Pipeline Park with its superpipe and innovative, advanced features.
Mountain Ambassadors
Take a free mountain tour from one of Aspen/Snowmass’ 60 ambassadors. This excellent adventure is easy, informative and requires minimal conscious thought. Tours depart daily at 10:30 am from the Guest Services Center at the top of each mountain. Plan to arrive there about 10 minutes early and relax with a complimentary Lara Bar and cider while the tour gets organized. Most tours include 4-6 people and take about 2 hours to cross the ski area. The average terrain covered is “groomed blue” in difficulty, but more advanced tours (i.e. blue/black) are occasionally formed depending on who shows up. You will get a pretty good overview of the whole place and then can decide for yourself where you are going to spend your remaining time.
