Could your child be the next Olympian?  There’s no better place to start them on their way than through the Steamboat Ski & Snowboard School and Kids’ Vacation Center. Even before unveiling its revolutionary Steamboat MountainWatch technology, Steamboat has a national reputation for the best children’s programmes in the country and was recently ranked the #1 Family Resort in the West by SKI Magazine.

The Kids’ Vacation Center (KVC) One-Stop Check-In Center allows parents to purchase clinics, equipment rentals and lift tickets for their children all in one location. Whether they’re a recent arrival to skiing or an experienced skier, taking care of our littlest guests has always been a priority at Steamboat.

List of activites and Programs

Kids Ski Free: Steamboat’s Kids Ski Free™ and Grandkids Ski Free programs enable children 12 years of age and under to ski free the same number of days as their parents/grandparents when parents/grandparents purchase a 5-or-more day adult lift ticket at regular prices. Discounted lift ticket products are not eligible for this programme; seniors must purchase a regular priced adult ticket to be eligible for this programme. One free child per paid parent/grandparent.

Kids Rent Free: One kid 12 or under rents free with each five-day parental adult rental; certain restrictions apply. Special rates are available for kids who do not participate in Kids Ski Free rental programmes. Rentals are available at the Kids’ Vacation Center.

Kids-Only Terrain & Lifts: Steamboat has 5 kids-only lifts and 2 special beginner teaching areas with their own Magic Carpet lifts. More advanced kids access the entire mountain, including kids-only ski terrain at Rough Rider Basin with its own lift plus Indian teepees, a frontier-style fort and the Beehive - a kids’ terrain park.

On Snow Programmes:

Buckaroos - Ages 2 - 3½ years - All-Day Kiddie Corral Child Care plus an on-snow one-hour private ski lesson. Ski equipment is included. Reservations required. No lift ticket required.

Mavericks - Skiers ages 3½-4 years - Full and Half day group lessons for our younger group skiers, and with smaller class sizes, a little exposure to skiing, and a lot of fun! All Mavericks must be willing to ski and be fully potty-trained. Ski equipment not included. Reservations required. No lift ticket required.

Sundance Kids - Skiers Ages 4-Kindergarten - Aspiring young skiers are provided with the best coaching and facilities. We provide special teaching areas and lifts at the beginner levels. More advanced lessons have access to all terrain. Ski equipment not included. Reservations required. No lift ticket required.

Jackalopes Ski Weeks - Skiers Ages 5-6 years - The Jackalopes Ski Week package includes 5 all-day lessons (9:00am - 2:45pm) Monday through Friday, a treasure hunt, a race and race ribbon, and a colourful Steamboat T-shirt. Participants are grouped by ability level and will remain with the same instructor and group for the week.

This package includes lift privileges good during lesson times and also a "one-run" ticket good at the end of each day's lesson. A great opportunity to show Mum and Dad what was learned! This programme is for "eager" 5 and 6 year olds who have the desire and stamina to ski five full days with new friends!

Child Care Programmes: Children 6 months through Kindergarten are provided with excellent childcare by experienced staff. Each childcare room provides age-appropriate activities and lots of fun while Mum and Dad are enjoying the slopes. Lunches are included in all-day programmes for kid's 18 months and older.

Kids Night Out: Kids Adventure Club offers a "Kids Night Out" for kids ages 5 years through 12 years (and young teens) Wednesday through Saturday. This offers a camp environment with supervision, snacks, games, movies, and rest time. Children ages 5-7 may go tubing and children 8 - 12+ will be involved in a variety of activities including tubing, pottery, and other activities.

Steamboat MountainWatch: Steamboat is proud to offer guests the latest in technology in-group tracking. Steamboat MountainWatch provides peace-of-mind and convenience by enabling you to better locate other members of your group. Guests can also access resort product information while on the mountain or in the base area from any of the kiosk locations. Rent Steamboat MountainWatch for your entire family or group (up to 10 pp)!
